Acute Care
The Emergency Services Department at Magee General Hospital strives to offer patients the most comprehensive emergency medical services available. The department is staffed 24 hours a day by physicians or nurse practitioners who specialize in Emergency Medicine. In addition to the physicians and nurse practitioners, qualified Registered Nurses with the assistance of Licensed Practical Nurses cover the Emergency Department. To ensure the very best, all nurses have expertise in emergent care.
Specialized equipment available in the emergency and trauma rooms includes LifePak 20 Defibrillator, Glidoscope, Fluid Warmer, Bair Hugger Warming Units, and other items necessary for trauma care. Suturing and splinting are also provided when necessary.
Magee General Hospital Emergency Services Department is supported by the following ancillary services:
Laboratory
Radiology – Including X-rays, CT Scan, Ultrasound, & MRI services.
Respiratory Therapy
All Respiratory personnel are trained in ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support). Therapists utilize the advanced Glidoscope intubation for airway management.
Pharmacy
Thrombolytic therapy is available 24 hours a day for STEMI [Heart attack] and Stroke Patients.
MGH is affiliated with the Mississippi Trauma Network as a Level 4 Trauma Center in Central MS Trauma Program.
